What will be the first steps of the new state gambling regulator "PlayCity"?

2025 has become a year of significant changes in the regulation of the gambling market in Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers has dissolved the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (CRGL) and established a new state institution - the agency "PlayCity". This new regulatory body is tasked with improving oversight of the gambling sector and preventing the spread of gambling addiction, which — though currently not widespread — still exists among Ukrainian players.

"PlayCity" agency will now be responsible for implementing new standards in the gambling industry, including maintaining the Register of persons restricted from accessing gambling establishments and/or participating in gambling (hereinafter — the Register), according to a column written by Anton Kuchukhidze, Chairman of the Ukrainian Gambling Council.
