From the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian army into Ukraine, legal gambling operators, despite the reduced income and physical destruction of some assets, have helped the army and territorial defence units and provided financial support to social and humanitarian government and regional programs.
Now this assistance has become increasingly differentiated and targeted, and each gambling company chooses volunteering roles to increase the effectiveness of its charity work.
The work of members of the Ukrainian Gambling Council, the largest specialized association of legal domestic gambling representatives, is focused mainly on the following areas:
· financial support for national humanitarian projects, the funds for which are transferred to the NBU special account;
· provision of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defence units with ammunition, technical equipment, cars, and fuel;
· technical and financial support for regional social and humanitarian projects;
· financing of medical and psychological support projects;
· provision of charity support to temporarily displaced persons.
Some have focused on one area and work only in one direction. Others have chosen several areas simultaneously. But they help the State together!
For instance, in mid-August, the world’s largest poker room GGPoker transferred UAH 3 million to the NBU special account. These funds were raised during a special charity tournament, Every 1 for War Relief, as part of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Let me remind you, UAH 2.5 million was collected during the previous tournament and transferred to the NBU special account as well to finance nationwide humanitarian projects.
Since the war began, the Parimatch brand has given Ukraine aid worth UAH 180 million, most of which was directed to the needs of the AFU. Together with the Charity Foundation, Parimatch Foundation is now increasing its financial assistance in such priority areas as the psychological rehabilitation of children and the resumption of sports programs.
The Foundation continues its volunteer work, supporting medical projects. On August 16, the Parimatch Foundation and the Ministry of Education signed a memorandum of cooperation in the educational process development in Ukraine. At the same time, Parimatch Tech is resuming educational projects, that is, the Parimatch Tech Academy, providing an opportunity to gain IT skills from the ground up and get a job.
The Cosmolot online casino regularly helps the army with its funds. It has also created a specialized website, Let’s Burn Vata, as part of the Give Rashists Hell patriotic campaign. As part of the campaign, everyone can donate funds to the AFU. All funds are transferred to the Come Back Alive fund. Everyone who joins the campaign may choose the type of military equipment for AFU soldiers, for which such a charitable donation will be used.
PokerMatch holds specialized tournaments and events and donates the funds raised to charitable organizations. For instance, the entire rake, UAH 330,500, from a weekend at PokerMatch will be transferred to the Zgraya volunteer association, which has been helping civilians, the AFU, hospitals, and everyone in need since the first days of the war. And from August 1 to 24, the company announced the start of the Charity Marathon dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day. All money raised will also go to charity.
Favbet and its Favbet Foundation have already transferred directly and through charities over UAH 30 million for the needs of the AFU alone, provided 5 tons of fuel, and helped buy three ambulances for doctors in Mykolaiv. The Favbet Foundation also organized an educational process for Ukrainian children and adults who are now refugees in Zagreb (Croatia).
Slots City organized the process of daily fundraising to buy cars, drones, thermal imagers, power generators, and equipment for the AFU. Since May, this work has become permanent with the Slots City Foundation treating volunteer projects as professionally as its business.
With their volunteer and charity work, legal gambling operators prove that social responsibility is an integral part of their business, the future of which they see in Ukraine.
